They sent her away, bundled and betrothed, sentenced to the moors where a crumbling house awaited her with locked doors. They did not know he lay cold in the ground and they did not mind, but neither did she. After all, a dead husband could not interfere.
At night she wanders the twisted corridors of her new home, currying favor with spirits and prying secrets from cold lips.
