I made this piece for an exhibition on Queer Domesticity, a companion piece to Morning party. I have such fond memories of queer parties. An important part of queer domesticity for me is that it doesn't only include romantic/sexual partners but also friends and other people that you have different relationships with.
My name is Arwen (Dagmar) Meereboer, I am an appreciator of plants and cats, collector of nice rocks, and an illustrator. I grew up in a small village in the northern tip of the Netherlands surrounded by fields and cows. We took frequent trips to the sea, and as a result my childhood dream was to live on one of the Dutch islands. The countryside and the childhood dream of the island life are recurring themes in my drawings. There is a certain magic in the small everyday things that I try to capture in my illustrations.
