I’m a child of immigrants — my mother from Greece and my father Mexican. Inherent in that fact is my lived experience of having grown up split between the two sharply divided worlds of my parents’ native cultures, and having to square that with the American one that has never fully felt my own. It’s a reality that has often left me with conflicting views of my environment, the people around me, and my own identity. My paintings are an attempt to reconcile that conflict.
