(Oil on canvas)
Atropa belladonna also known as deadly nightshade is an extremely toxic plant with beautiful purple flowers. The berries look attractive and have a somewhat sweet taste, but the consumption of two to five berries by a human adult is probably lethal. The plant grows best in shadow. However, the more light it is exposed to the more poisonous it becomes.
In the past, witches were believed to use belladonna in a mixture, which they applied to help them fly to gatherings with other witches.
