The original piece was made using cut paper, graphite, and acrylic paint. It's a portrait of the jazz great Tony Williams, a drummer who played with such greats as Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, John Coltrane, Freddie Hubbard during the 60s, 70s and 80s. He was a seminal artist during the jazz fusion, free jazz, post bop, and funk movement.
Christopher Silas Neal is an award-winning author and illustrator of picture books. He is a Mexican/Eurpoean-American artist who lives with his wife and two boys in Brooklyn, NY.
