Serqet (Serket, Selket) is an Ancient Egyptian goddess associated with medicine, magic, and healing venomous stings and bites, as Her name can translate to “(She who) causes the throat to breathe." Here, one of Her sacred animals (the scorpion) sits in a bowl of caraway. Caraway seeds were used medicinally in Ancient Egypt, and are a wonderful addition to bread as well.
