The third of a six-part speculative ongoing series depicting the life and death of the T.rex nicknamed Stan. In this scene, Stan is in the mood for love, and is performing a mating display in hopes of enticing the curious female in the foreground, "crowned" with magnolias. An Avisaurus watches bemusedly from a nearby tree. Stan's mating dance is inspired by both the Blue-Footed Booby and the Frigate Bird. There is some anecdotal evidence that large Tyrannosaurs had some sort of dewlap or pouch on the throat, which I am basing this depiction on.
I use digital and traditional media to create paleoart and illustrations. I strive for accuracy, technical and artistic growth, and try to tell stories with many of my pieces. Lately I've also been exploring an abstract aesthetic to produce something more along the lines of fine art.
