It is with immense joy that I present to you "Victory in Jesus," the inaugural piece of my "Easter" series. This painting is inspired by the victorious words of 1 Corinthians 15:54-58, which declare the triumph over death through our Lord Jesus Christ: "Death has been swallowed up in victory... Thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ."
In "Victory in Jesus," I have depicted the pivotal moment of Christ's resurrection. Jesus is seen walking out of the empty tomb, His back to the viewer, symbolizing His journey from death to life. The stone slab, draped with the burial cloth in the foreground, and the bright sunlight streaming through the tomb's opening, dramatically emphasize the power and glory of His resurrection.
The element of this artwork that deeply resonates with me is the interplay of light and shadow within the tomb. The light not only signifies the dawn of hope but also illuminates the path of salvation that Jesus has secured for us. This contrast is a visual representation of the transformation from death to eternal life.
"Victory in Jesus" is a celebration of the most significant event in history. My aspiration for this painting is to inspire faith, hope, and joy in the hearts of those who view it. May it serve as a daily reminder of the victory we have in Christ--a victory over sin, death, and despair.
