Buddy was loved for all of his life, but when he was diagnosed with Uveitis and went blind, his family, who was going through personal turmoil, could no longer care for him. On the day he was scheduled to be euthanized, we brought him home. After spending a few weeks at a neighboring stable, Buddy is home at Catskill Animal Sanctuary. He is the fourth blind horse named Buddy we've been fortunate enough to give a second chance. Bringing him home in the year of our 20th anniversary was very moving for us.
Cricket was rescued from a notorious animal hoarded, who had her chained around the ankle to a tree. She had a red bullseye spraypainted onto her side. Today, Cricket runs free at Sanctuary, though the scar around her ankle is still a painful reminder of her sad past.
