Legs On a Train is a series of sketches I would do each morning while riding the subway to work from Brooklyn to Manhattan. I wanted to challenge myself as a way to get my brain working before I arrived at the office and this was the way I did It - standing up on an often crowded and constantly moving and swaying subway car, drawing straight to paper with a gel ink ballpoint, and drawing the collection of footwear of the passengers that were continually boarding and departing the train. The perspective, variety and impermanence of the subject matter made each trip really interesting and enjoyable to sketch.
