This is one from a series of 31 illustrations. Each one is a legend from Brazilian folklore. Caipora is a guardian of the forest. His/her body is covered in fur, he/she is strong, and he usually rides a bush pig. He/she can be very aggressive with hunters causing them to get lost in the woods. It is believed that he was of the same species as Curupira.
