Artist Sophie Taeuber-Arp, born January 19, 1889, was a Swiss painter, sculptor, furniture and interior designer, architect, and dancer whose work is most associated with Constructivism and Dada. She was a founding member of Cabaret Voltaire and made puppets, costumes, and choreography for performances. Taeuber-Arp’s work is best known for its bold geometric forms, expressive color, and synthesis of fine and applied arts. Her portrait was once featured on Swiss banknotes.
