Pencil and white charcoal drawing of a mystical white stag. Local legend says that when the Japanese monk Rennyo left Kyoto and traveled to Fukui Prefecture to found a new temple he was led to a village called Yoshizaki. In the forests there, a white stag appeared to him and he knew to build his new temple there in 1471.
