This piece is inspired by Rene Magritte's painting "The Son of Man." The original is a self portrait of Magritte wearing a bowler hat and his face hidden by the apple.
The piece conveys conflict and hidden meanings -- something is always hiding behind something else. In my rendition titled "The Daughter of Eve," I wanted to depict the conflict of a woman in a patriarchal world. But her face is visible and her features are not confined by the bowler hat. The woman is seen, not afraid, not hiding and not constrained by social norms.
I am an artist at heart. By day, I am a busy mom and physician. By night, I unwind and allow the energy of the day before manifest in my art. My random thoughts, feelings, joys, and worries are captured in a moment of time and form an image. Sometimes my pieces are coherent and other times chaotic. I am moved to create and birth energy through art.
