Acrylic and colored pencil on paper
This is a new piece I created honoring HP Lovecraft. This Sunday, 3/15/15, marks the 78th anniversary of his passing. For those of you seeing him for the first time, he is kind of a funky looking dude. He had a bit of an under bite and it looked like he had a bunch of chew shoved way down in his bottom lip. He was self-conscious about the way he looked and I believe even his own mother thought he was ugly. The thing is, off the top of my head I can’t think of one single person that I know from his era based solely on how beautiful they were. “Beautiful” people are born and die every day but there will only be one Lovecraft. This is kind of a fun way to look at him, a little silly, and I hope you enjoy it.
