My diploma project.
This is a series of 12 illustrations, and each of them represents personification of the calendar month inspired by the deity, which is connected with the given month to a certain degree. However, this is not a reliable presentation of the gods, but rather presentation of the characters inspired by mythology.
So, January is Janus. He's the god of beginnings, gates, transitions, time, duality, passages, and endings. He is usually depicted as having two faces, since he looks to the future and to the past. His attributes were the key to the celestial gate and the staff for their protection. Roman numbers on his hands mean the number of days in a year.
I'm a student-illustrator from Belarus. I study graphic design at the University of the Fine Arts in Poznan, Poland. Sorry for my English :^)
