I was hoping to capture the poignant feeling of motherhood - how desperately you want to be there for your children no matter what. And the terror that someday you might not be able to. After this I had to draw a bunch of happy things, in fact, my aunt gets mad at me every time she looks at it - too sad, she says. But I feel like maybe there’s a little hope in it too, like a mother’s love is always there to hug you even if it’s a memory or a ghost.
