Tyrev grimaced as he inspected the dent, the huge felling axe that the militiaman had used had nearly knocked the senses from him when he did not bring his shield up in time. Rolf had brought the man down with his spear, and had jested something about thick skulls and slow hands while he got Tyrev back to his feet. The blade of the axe had bit into the rim, and pushed it into the metal of the helmet itself, the deep, shining gouge showing clearly in the matted surface. He gave a low whistle at the reflection of how near he had come to joining the dead and dying all around. He'd have to start looking for a replacement though, this one would cost more than it was worth to repair.
