From my sketchbook.
Vine charcoal on paper, 14" x 11".
These sketch heads are a good warm up and are often drawn from life or a combination of reference material and my own intuitive drawing process. I try to go beyond a mere likeness and attempt to capture something about the inherent character of the subject. I try to bring the internal to the exterior.
Artist and Educator.
My art is an exercise of interpretation, of exploring the inner world of the subject. We are currently experiencing a period of fragmentation and upheaval in our norms, beliefs and identity, causing humanity great cultural distress and personal existential turmoil. I attempt to reveal something not readily identifiable, to translate emotions simmering just below surface of the model or subject, to bring the interior to the exterior.
This is a gallery-quality giclée art print on 100% cotton rag archival paper, printed with archival inks. Each art print is listed by sheet size and features a minimum one-inch border.
